Quarterly Newsletter and R&D UpdateListening to Customers is the Key to Our R&DPerhaps the most important part of Research and Development of new products is listening . . . the discovery of the product idea. In our case, we have currently developed two new products, thanks to our customers who generated ideas! The results are a much-needed shelf accessory to go along with our DVR and CPU Lockboxes; and the addition of three new outdoor/indoor fan-cooled enclosures to our Temperature Controlled Enclosures line. Actually, these customer product suggestions weren’t very subtle because in both cases we had many customers who thought the products were “naturals” for us and complemented products in our standard enclosure lines. The results are a much-needed shelf accessory to go along with our DVR and CPU Lockboxes; and the addition of three new fan-cooled outdoor/indoor enclosures to our Temperature Controlled Enclosure line. Our New DVR/CPU Lockbox Shelf:The BW-215 Wall-Mount Shelf is truly a natural to accompany five of our seven models of lockboxes. Finding the ideal place to install DVRs in a lockbox is not always an easy task, and the shelf is a real solution to making the job easier. The shelf is designed to mount onto a single wall stud, which makes finding the right location a bit easier. They are made of hefty 14 and 16 gauge steel and powder-coated black to match the lockboxes. They are simple to hang onto the wall, and fasteners are provided to do the job. Better yet, the shelf is designed to fit our lockboxes. Once the shelf is fastened to the wall, we’ve matched holes in the shelf with mounting holes in the bottom of our lockboxes so the DVR/CPU Lockbox is securely attached to the shelf. Again, all fasteners are provided. Our New Fan-Cooled Enclosures:We have added fan-cooled cabinets to our line of Temperature Controlled Enclosures, also due to customer input. This line of enclosures has always been NEMA 4 and included air-conditioning and heating units to protect the fire-panels, DVRs, or other electronic equipment mounted within. However, installers were stating that in some cases this amount of temperature control was overkill. Therefore, these new NEMA 3R Fan-Cooled units were strictly designed for those instances when air-conditioning or heating is not needed, but a constant exchange of ambient air and air inside the enclosure is sufficient. The fan-cooled units are not a substitute for the demands of enclosures where air-conditioning and heating are necessary or where internal components need to be protected from moisture. However, there are many interior and outdoor applications where these units are cost-effective. The enclosures come in three basic models with differing options, but all are designed with the capabilities of meeting NEMA 3R standards...which means they are for either indoor or outdoor use and provide a degree of protection from incidental contact with the enclosed equipment and against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, and windblown dust, and the external formation of ice on the enclosure. Important features of these units include a continuous-duty fan, which exchanges the These new Fan-Cooled Enclosures also come with shrouds, intended to protect the air Both additions to our product line are the result of listening to you...our customer. Thanks for the help, and if you have other product ideas, please call or email. You have our ear! |
